10 Fun Activities to Try During the Quarantine

I never thought I’d say this but, staying at home is exhausting. Between cleaning, relaxing, and organizing, take a break and try one of these fun ways to pass time!

  1. Play a card game

Depending on your household size, there’s an array of card games to try! The classics such as war, crazy eights, go fish, solitaire and rummy are a great way to pass time. There are also plenty of free online and app card games available. Check out free games from AARP here

  1. Check out Youtube

Nowadays you can watch almost anything on YouTube. Need a recipe? You’ll find many easy to understand options on YouTube! Want to learn about your favorite topics? YouTube has tons of options! You can find almost anything on YouTube nowadays.

  1. Try a new streaming service

Check out Pluto TV or Tubi for free shows and movies with ads. Walmart’s online video store, Vudu, has a free section of movie rentals. If you pay for Amazon Prime, you automatically have Prime TV, which has some free movies and shows. If you’re bored with Cable, Netflix, or Hulu give these alternatives a try!

  1. Give Audiobooks & E-books a whirl

If you’re an avid library user, you’re probably disappointed that you won’t be able to start any new reads anytime soon. Instead, try an audiobook or e-book! You can start a free trial for 30 days and receive 1 free audiobook and 2 audible originals.

  1. Check out the Cincinnati Zoo Home Safari

Every weekday the zoo will be going live on Facebook at 3 PM EDT to highlight one of the resident animals. Their first home safari featured the famous hippo, Fiona! Check out their Facebook here

  1. Spot the station

This racking tool allows you to find when, where, and how you can see the International Space Station pass overhead! NASA says it’ll look like a bright star slowly passing through the sky. You can also stargaze outside if you can maintain social distancing. Many night sky apps can inform you of all the stars in your view.

  1. Do a home workout.

Whether you enjoy yoga, HIIT, cardio, or just moving your body, there’s an app for you! Down Dog has made its premium membership free through April 1st. Many gyms, such as Planet Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness, are streaming workouts on their apps for free as well. You can also check out YouTube for tons of workout videos!

  1. Virtual Karaoke

Are you a karaoke lover? You don’t have to stop just because we’re social distancing! Open Zoom (or create a free account), invite all your friends, pick a theme or playlist, and take turns belting your hearts out! All the fun of karaoke without the potential risks. You can also try a virtual happy hour!

  1. Take a virtual museum tour

Google Arts 7 Culture offers free virtual tours of famous museums such as the MoMA, Van Gogh Museum, Tate, Palace of Versailles, and more! To check out museums from the safety of your home, click here

  1. Get educated!

No matter your age, there’s always something to learn! Scholastic offers free online courses while schools are closed for the youth. Khan Academy has an assortment of subjects and topics to learn from a variety of histories to health & medicine. Sign up for a free Khan Academy account here. 

At market close today, Dow Jones and S&P 500 saw increases while the NASDAQ slightly declined. The Dow surged by 2.39% with a 495.64 point increase, while the S&P 500 rose by 1.15% with a 28.23 point increase, and the NASDAQ dropped by 0.45% with a 33.56 point decrease.
